Happy holidays all.
We have a huge library of music from which we can put together almost any type of concert or musical event. The library includes modern and classic wind band repertoire, marches, selections from shows, film and television music, classical arrangements, music for Christmas, and popular items. Our Musical Director will discuss and confirm the programme with you. When deciding upon the programme we utilise our vast library, your musical preferences for the type of event you are hosting and always try to add some music that are known 'crowd-pleasers' that fit well within your theme. (See below for a few sample selections)
Discover the Northampton Concert Band's journey: Founded in 1919 by ex-servicemen, it evolved from the Northampton Military Band to a dynamic musical force. Renowned for their excellence, they've consistently won top honors at the National Wind Band Festival, including a recent gold award. Under the legendary leadership of Harold Colman for over 50 years, the band has become a symbol of musical heritage and innovation in Northampton.
Graham Tear is the Musical Director. Educated at Northampton Grammar School and Birmingham Conservatoire, he has had a varied career as a musician and conductor. He has been associated with several musical groups and educational institutions, including the Northamptonshire Music Service and Northampton Chamber Orchestra. Though semi-retired, he continues to be active in various musical roles, including teaching and conducting

Clarinets comprise a family of instruments of differing sizes and pitches. The clarinet family is the largest woodwind family, ranging from the BB♭ contrabass to the E♭ soprano.
There are usually about a minimum of 40 performers in the concert band and we require chairs and enough space to set them out. Vehicular access close to the venue is required by those who bring a lot of musical equipment, like percussion. So long as you have a venue we’re happy to fill it.
These wonderful instruments are composed of six pieces, and is usually made of wood. It is known for its distinctive tone color, wide range, versatility, and virtuosity..

The first known metal trumpets can be traced back to around 1500BC. Silver and bronze trumpets were discovered in the grave of King Tut in Egypt.
The Band was formed in 1919 by a group of ex-servicemen who wished to continue their musical interests in civilian life. The band was originally called the Northampton Military Band. In 1976 the name was changed to the Northampton Concert Band to reflect the increase in membership of younger musicians and the wider repertoire of music played.
We perform at a wide range of venues including concert halls, churches, and out door events.
